Prince of Peace School
Prince of Peace School opened in February 2008 with three students. Teachers’ salaries and cooks were paid through funds obtained from donations and fundraisers. Guards were also hired to protect the school; Turkwel is a dangerous area where it is not safe for kids to walk to and from school due to the fighting and common killings by bandits. In addition, the nearest river (and water supply) was diverted decades ago for the Turkwel Dam. Families often wander and move locations in search of water for survival. Get the Word Out has and will continue to make a difference.
Today, Prince of Peace is a government school and GTWO continues to support its students by providing funds for school supplies, food, and bedding for students who board at the school due to continued safety issues. It is our goal to also provide the school with clean water by building a well. Clean water is not only imperative to life, but it would enable families to stop wandering and enable their children to stay in school.
By helping us reach our goal of 40,000 pairs of shoes, you too can help provide education and clean water to the children of Turkwel, Kenya.
